The highly regarded public magnet school Foothill Technology High School (FTHS) in Ventura, California, is well-known for incorporating technology into its college-prep curriculum. FTHS, which was founded by the Ventura Unified School District in the 2000–2001 academic year, is concentrated on career routes in health science and design technology.

Academics and Accomplishments: Foothill Tech received the National Blue Ribbon Award in 2006 and 20121. It has also been named a California Distinguished School since 2005. Based on its Academic Performance Index (API) exam results, the school routinely places in the top 10 high schools in California. In 2011, it achieved a peak score of 914, which at the time was the highest in Ventura County.
Athletics: The school’s teams, dubbed the Dragons, participate in the Tri-County Athletic Association and are members of the CIF Southern Section (CIF-SS). Athletically, Foothill Tech has been successful. In 2017 and 2018, the girls’ cross-country team won back-to-back CIF-SS championships. In 20201, the boys’ soccer team won its first section championship.
Notable Alums: Among them are YouTuber and engineer William Osman; Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, drummer, rapper, and record producer Anderson Paak; and writer, actor, director, comedian, and LGBTQ activist Ryan O’Connell.
